Happy New Year?

As I wrote those all-too-familiar words--Happy New Year--I realized just how far short they fell from what is really in my heart, thus the question mark. You see, I truly believe that God has a higher dream for us than mere happiness, although happiness is something we all desire, oftentimes even above His dream for us. To be honest, there have been several occasions during this past year, when, had I been given the opportunity (thankfully, He will not let me go!), I would have traded His dream for even a few minutes of happiness.

At any rate, for 2008, I wish something for each of us, something far greater than mere happiness, as great as happiness is, and it is this: that we might progressively become more intimately acquainted with Him (Writing that scares me to death, so much so, that I am tempted to change "us" to "you"!).

I sincerely believe that this is His higher dream for us and I also believe, just as sincerely, that He is absolutely committed to our experiencing His dream!

On the journey but a bit nervous!
Your Pastor
