As most of you know, I have been in and around the funeral profession for many, many years, and I have seen much. Actually, before tonight I would have said I have seen "everything" but tonight I saw something that I have never before seen--a Confederate soldier standing guard beside the casketed remains of his long-time friend. It was as if I had been taken back in time and given a bird's-eye-view of how things were when some of my ancestors were alive.
Tomorrow, I will be speaking at this man's funeral but the main event will be what this group of Confederate reenactment soldiers carry out before and after I finish my brief remarks.
To be sure, this will be a unique experience for me--
