Tonight Annis and I made our way to Jeffersonville, GA, where I was to lead a Bible Study at the home of Douglas & Valorie Chance (see picture). I had no idea what was expected of me, nor did I have any idea who would be in attendance--other that of course the Goddards and the Chances. For those of you who do not know, these are the very experiences that energize me, as in 240 volts worth of energy, and tonight was no exception! There is something about teaching that old, old story that I really love--always have and always will.
Anyway, a major piece of the "wonder" of tonight was the group He brought together. Corrie, one of the most beautiful girls I have ever seen, was present, along with her fella', Jeremy, and her pink wheelchair. She was involved in an auto accident about 5 years (Easter Sunday) ago, that resulted in paralysis from her waist down; although she is a fighter and she is winning, I feel sure that she has some questions that she wants answered. Her fella', an RN, is now attempting to gain acceptance into medical school! Straw and his wife, Joyce, were also present; in January of this year, their daughter died from a heart attack, leaving her husband and her children. As you might imagine, that pain is still very fresh and probably will be for a long time to come. I think it is safe to say that they are searching for answers and for pain relievers! Then there was Bunny, who works at the local funeral home. Her husband would have been present but he had to attend a Deacon's meeting (God bless him!). Bunny is one precious lady and she is hungry and I am not referring to fried chicken and 'tater salad!
I never know really who is in the "audience", certainly not the pain they might be carrying, but I do know this: that old, old story is the only story that can penetrate one's heart and bring life. I have the strong feeling that it did so tonight!
Why, they even asked that I "do it again next week"!

Mac,
Nice to know you still make house calls, and I beat they were on the edges of their seats listening with open ears and open eyes.
So you golfed the other day and ditched your cleaning of the teeth appointment. No eagles this time?
Wednesday night Drew had a baseball game and it was a good one. They won which has not occured all that much. The boy pitched the win and went 3 for 3 at the plate. It is hard to explain, but after each season is gone, I look back and just see how many blessings there have been for Drew. I hope he sees them to. That is the case with all of us. Those blessing that we miss. The ones we see, but do not see. Each night I go to these games, I relish just like you the opportunity to be and be with. I make a fool out of myself, at least that is the way I see it after we leave the game. For some reason I cannot keep quiet. I make noise, I clap, I cheer, I speak to the players, I tell them one liners to take the pressure off of them. Thinking it helps to keep them loose and will improve their play. Anyway we won Wednesday night against Northside Warner Robins 11 - 5. Last night Westside blanked us on a one hitter 8 - 0. Tonight we play Dublin at Northside at 8:15 PM. Tomorrow night we have two more games at 6 and 8:15 against Bleakley County and WR HS. It never ends.
Anyway missed leftovers and the dogs. What kind of beer did you use? When I make steamed Maryland Blue Claw Crabs I use a can of Bud.
Have to get back to work. Have a great day pastor Mac.
